EDITOR'S NOTE: Because of incorrect information provided to a reporter, an earlier version of this story incorrectly described the relationship between the woman and Thomas Jackson Taylor. She and Taylor were no longer dating. The story has been changed to reflect this. The Chronicle regrets the error.

One man is in jail and two people are in critical condition after a wreck Saturday on Travis Road in south Augusta, authorities said.

Around 4:30 p.m., Thomas Jackson Taylor, 36, of Windsor Spring Road, spotted his ex-girlfriend in a car with another man and used his truck as a weapon, ramming the car until it flipped near Mack Lane, deputies said.

Taylor was booked into the Richmond County jail on two counts of aggravated assault, according to jail records.

The woman was airlifted, and the man was taken by ambulance to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, authorities said.

I don't think there is such a charge in Georgia. Aggravated Assault is the equal charge. The only time Attempted Murder would apply would if associated with some type of testimony/trial. Im not 100% on this.

Another stupid headline
Unpublished

Whoever writes these headlines should double check what they read like. So he hit a car with his girlfriend? What did he do? Pick her up and throw her at the car? Or maybe he held her sideways and used her as a battering ram against the engine bay?

There is a lot of conjecture

There is a lot of conjecture here. It could be he didn't mean to ram them. He could have been chasing or something and it was accidental. Not that I know either way.

would be appropriate. If it was malicious and intentional. A car is definitely larger than a knife.

The most interesting thing about this story

is the headline.

It ranks right up there with one from Brunswick quite some time ago, "Beaver Shoots Man".

True, but we really don't know. The officer wasn't there when it happened. Maybe the victims said something, but that's not necessarily what happened even if the officer did report it as such.

We never really know on

We never really know on anything. Regardless, he is the reason there are two people critically injured and the chase was a decision that he made. I would say there is strong evidence for the arrest.

Could it be that one or both

Could it be that one or both of the victims were able to talk and tell them what happened. (or maybe a witness)

This story reads like it was

This story reads like it was written by one of our elected lawyers in Atlanta. This is what we get (attempted murder is equated to agravated assult), when we elect lawyers to be our representatives.

All That Could Be...But

It could be all that is true and I'm not taking up for him, but simply pointing out issues. As Allhans said they may have said that, but it doesn't make it true. Maybe there is a witness and in that case I would tend to believe it.

However, because the man is following closely, it doesn't necessarily mean he caused the accident. It's a leap in logic from following in a lawful manner to causing an accident. Lawyers and all that.

SeenIt, I never rammed, but I did have the air let out of my tires once by a disgruntled admirer. I was just thankful she didn't cut them. She was nice enough to just let the air out. Heh.

RM is must be our winning personality ...

I had someone put sugar in my gas tank many years ago. I went to one gas station to put gas in my car & the pump immediately clicked off. I thought maybe the pump itself was out of gas. So I switched to another pump & it did the same thing. My dad told me to meet him at the mechanics & I had sugar in my tank. Luckily the person was an idiot because they used SUGAR PACKETS ... to this day I still wonder how that person walked out of Hardees with that many sugar packets & how long it took them to sit outside my parents house & shove them in my gas tank one by one! Lol.

Hope Jack is put under the jail!

This type of behavior by Jack is why Jess was no longer with him. The fact that Jack would do this to Jessica is horrible. The fact that Jack did this to his own son is even more horrible. That kid is going to have to go thru alot for the rest of his life b/c of his own father's stupidity. I hope ALL of Jack's parental rights are terminated with all 3 of his kids!! Jess is in her 2nd surgery right now. I'm sure she has an enumerable amount of surgery ahead of her. She is a surgical assistant and loved her job. I am so sorry that she has to be on the one having surgery now.

Attempt at Crime is Same as the Crime

A murder did not occur so the highest charge was probably Aggravated Assualt unless one of the two dies. I guess we don't know whether he was trying to hurt or kill them. Charges can be upgraded. Correct me if I am wrong!

Get the Story Straight before Gossiping!!!!

First off, we all need to remember that there are two familys that are suffering here and if we don't know the people involved, we don't need to speculate, however I do know Jessica and all the stuff that Jack put her through. Yes Jessica has a child with Jack and they WERE together. Notice the word WERE. She was NOT cheating on him as they were no longer together, so for anyone to say that really makes me angry, especially when they don't know the entire story. Secondly, I don't care if cheating was involved, this does NOT give him or ANYONE the right to harm her or anyone else. Jessica told me that Jack said if he could not have her then no one would have her. That is the entire problem. He wants to keep her so that he can continue to physically and mentally abuse her. She got out and has began a life for her and her son and he can't deal with that. Jack had no right trying to take that away from her or possibly taking a mother away from his son. Put him in the death chair is what I say.

This reporter should be fired for speculating and printing speculation in this story. He should be required to write another article giving the correct information and write a retraction for this story.

Surg Tech Instructor I do not

Surg Tech Instructor I do not know Melissa but I do know controlling abusive men are to be feared. You are so correct that her being with someoe else is no excused for what he did. It sounds like he did not know what he had until he lost her and the he LOST HIS MIND. Who would do something like this to the primary parent of his child? My prayers are with all involved.
