Shortly before 2 p.m., Columbia and Richmond county deputies went to the home of Joshua David Chosewood, 22, of Old Trail Road West, after receiving a tip about methamphetamine, said Columbia County sheriff’s Staff Sgt. Mike Williamson.

Even before the deputies approached him, Chosewood got in his Pontiac Vibe and drove away at speeds up to 100 mph, Williamson said.

As other deputies joined the chase, Chosewood took Flowing Wells Road to Columbia Road, and was seen throwing several items out of his window, Williamson said.

Chosewood eventually drove into Hillbrook neighborhood and into the driveway of his mother’s home on Forest Drive, where he was taken into custody.

About 2 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun were among the items Chosewood threw from his vehicle, Williamson said.

He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and he has two active warrants for parole violations, Williamson said.

No one was injured in the chase, but Chosewood’s vehicle hit several items, including mailboxes and trash cans, during the chase.

Investigators were searching Chosewood’s home, and more charges could be forthcoming, Williamson said.

22 years old

Yes - 22 years old and what a fool ruining his life like this. I feel sorry for his family - probably were unaware - at least I hope so.

The last place I would drive

The last place I would drive with the police chasing me is to my Mother's house! I would hate for her to witness that foolishness, and would want to spare her any embarrassment. I guess if you are a druggie, the last thing on your mind is someone else's feelings though. Urright: I was thinking the exact thing about a Vibe. It's kinda like reading that he was driving a Prius at 100 mph!
