A local chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives is endorsing Capt. Scott Peebles in the Richmond County sheriff’s race.

David Hannah, the president of NOBLE Georgia Chapter – Region 7, said it had chosen to back Peebles “after a careful review of the qualifications, experience, education and candiadte platforms,” according to a news release Monday.

The organization cited Peebles’ desire to seek national accreditation for the sheriff’s office and his intention to use data collection and analysis to help reduce crime.

NOBLE is a national organization based in Virginia with 59 chapters in six regions throughout the United States.

Interesting...think the NAACP would raise hell about a National Organization of WHITE Law Enforcement Officers? And white people are called racist.

Haha!

I'm not racist or arrogant, just plain stating facts. Racism comes & goes to & from all colors. This story brings black to light, not me.

Makes Sense

CAPTAIN P, THE OBAMA SUPPORTER, has openly admired Obama and I'm sure this black organization has picked up on it. Heck, Obama may even be working to pull strings for CAPTAIN P, THE OBAMA SUPPORTER.

Well if they could vote?

This org is in Va. If this is all the votes he has or is expecting he will need help. Unless he is running for sheriff in Atlanta or Va.

This young man has proven to our family that he is the best choice for Sheriff. His credentials are impeccable and it certainly speaks volumes for a local chapter of a law enforcement organization such as this to officially endorse him as well. Personally, our family supports Romney for President but I want the best Sheriff for Richmond County and could care less whom he supports so long as he is the most qualified for the job, and Peebles clearly is.

I knew I liked Mr. Williams right off the bat!!

Hat tip sir (and to your colleagues) for not succumbing to the disease that makes people support someone solely based on the fact they look like them. It is heartwarming to see support offered based solely on qualifications. Maybe some of the smooth brains downtown will take notice and quit playing racial politics with hiring practices.

SALUTE!!!

Does race matter?

Roundtree has support...trust. Wait for it...wait for it...

A black group supports a white candidate whoop-dee-doo, yet MANY say it's not about race.

Who cares about this group.....this group does not speak for MAJORITY of Augusta....and the last I checked......

A good Sheriff or a good politician?

First the Obama statement...now this...

Seenit, that wasn't directed towards you, but those who continue to bash Peebles, and spread rumors. I've said many times before Sanders is a great man! He's just not my choice.

ilove, oh its a hugh endorsement! Anytime your peers support you is a good thing. Who knows more about a mans work than those who work alongside him.

So if a black supports a white he's either a criminal, an uncle Tom, or part of a made up organization? Really? Folks must really be getting nervous.

There's something strange

There's something strange about all this. This nonprofit, black group, breaks the rules of nonprofits and makes a political endorsement against a black candidate. The newly created region group has a head close to a big, big campaign suppporter for CAPTAIN P, THE OBAMA SUPPORTER. I'd say Geturight is onto something.

If this is indeed as Geturight says and I believe it is, it's obvious who is getting nervous. It's just another example of an overzealous campaign contributor or something who wants a job or something going too far.

The polls are showing Roundtree leading and I drove through the downtown area yesterday from one end to the other on the way to SC. Lots of Silas signs up.

Someone at the Chronicle Should Do Some Research

It would be interesting if issues about this group like the nonprofit status and the connection to the Peebles' campaign honcho were looked into by the Chronicle.
