MACON, Ga. -- A man accused of stealing a Jeep in Milledgeville was arrested twice Wednesday afternoon in Macon, once for stealing the Jeep and a second time for stealing a Macon police car.

According to The Telegraph of Macon, police spotted the jeep at a Dairy Queen restaurant on Pio Nono Avenue near Rocky Creek Road at about 2:25 p.m. Ryan Lee Borders, 24, saw the officers and led police on a short chase, according to a police news release.

Once Borders was handcuffed and in custody, police put him in the back seat of a patrol car parked on St. Charles Place. While police were investigating the stolen Jeep, Borders “managed to get into the front seat” of the patrol car and drove away, according to the release.
