A man told deputies he was swindled out of $2,200 in a business venture that turned out to be nonexistent, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.
A little before 4 p.m. Monday, a 33-year-old man went to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office to file a report of theft by deception. He told deputies he had entered into a business agreement with a man to purchase an unknown number of international calling cards, which he was supposed to sell at an inflated value.
He soon discovered the cards could not be used to make international calls and had no value. When he traveled to the businesses address in Acworth, Ga., the company was closed.
