A suspect is in custody after police say he shot another man in the face on Gray Street off of Augusta Road in Langley on Saturday night.

Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell said the victim, who’s name was not released, was shot around 8:30 p.m. He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

The suspected shooter, who’s name has also not been released, fled the scene and broke into a home on Jackson Street where two women were present. One of them escaped and called 911. The deputies surrounded the home and arrested the suspect, Elwell said.

Langley is not Aiken. It is it's own place with its own heritage. When "you" say Aiken, people assume "the City of Aiken." I don't think that is too much to ask of this newspaper. After all, the paper with the lengthy heritage in GA should be well aware of the problems of associating city/town names with county names.

OK, let's get it right. The shooting was in Langley, not Aiken.

And to think I was so stupid to want to live in Augusta, downtown, no less. Thank God for my spouse and his wisdom, plus inside info.
