Bond was denied Friday for the man charged in connection with a deadly shooting May 29.

Michael Brown, 28, was arrested after investigators say he went to a home on the 3800 block of Shari Street to purchase drugs from Kenyatta Moorehead. Accompanying him was Walter Foster, 36, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Kristen Turner with the district attorney’s office said Friday that after the transaction was completed, Brown went back into the home and tried to rob Moorehead with a pistol. A struggle followed in which several shots were fired; one wounded Moorehead in the knee and another killed Foster.

Brown’s attorney, Tony Howard, asked for a reasonable bond from Superior Court Judge William Fleming on the grounds that Brown was an employed father of three children with “substantial ties to the community.”

Fleming denied bond, saying Brown “posed a threat to the community.”

Denied bond

for an employed father of 3 with substantial ties to the community. What sort of ties? Honest, hard working ties or some criminal connections like peddling dope? As a father with 3 kids he should have been at home raising his children to be decent citizens.
