The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said Corey Logan Solomon, 21, of the 100 block of Gregg Avenue, was at a residence on the 400 block of Gooseneck Road when he began choking a 32-year-old woman around 10 p.m. Sunday.

The woman’s husband, 32-year-old Nicholas Eugene Cribb, got a gun and shot Solomon in the leg.

Authorities later discovered the gun had been reported stolen in Columbia.

Solomon was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.

Following his release from the hospital on Monday, Solomon was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a hold for Aiken County authorities.

No charges have been filed against Cribb for possessing the stolen weapon, Capt. Troy Elwell said.

I would be interested to hear why the possession of a stolen weapon doesn't merit a charge. I'm sure there must be mitigating circumstances, but what are they?

Maybe he is not the one who stole the gun. Maybe he bought it from the one who stole it. I am just thinking out loud.
