A shooting in Clearwater early Saturday stemmed from an alleged assault on the shooter’s girlfriend, authorities said Sunday.
Aiken County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Larry Dorsey, 27, and Grif Calhoun, 24, both of North Augusta, on multiple charges including attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime after they allegedly shot at Daniel William Scott, 27, on Cherokee Drive, an incident report said.
At 12:15 a.m., deputies were called to the area because gunshots had been reported. They met with Scott, who said Dorsey and Calhoun had attacked him. Scott said Dorsey also fired a shot at him causing a powder burn to his left wrist.
The car in which Dorsey and Calhoun were riding was soon pulled over. They told deputies they were after Scott because he had assaulted Dorsey’s girlfriend, the report said.
Scott was also arrested on a disorderly conduct charge stemming from a traffic ticket, and deputies noted Scott said he had been drinking and had slurred speech and difficulty standing.
