Car, more than $7K in horse equipment stolen

A car, a utility vehicle, a firearm and more than $7,000 worth of horse show equipment was stolen from a business in Blythe, Ga., Thursday, authorities said.

Brian Teig Wells, 43, of the 4400 block of Boulineau Road told Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. someone stole his 2001 Dodge Intrepid, his 2004 Kawasaki 5500 utility mule vehicle, a Ruger 44 Magnum handgun, two show saddles valued at $5,500 and a Yearling horse show halter valued at $1,000, among other items, an incident report said.

Wells told deputies the car was stolen from the yard, the mule was swiped from a barn where a spare set of keys were taken and used to open the horse trailer to take the horse tack and gun.

An investigation found no signed of forced entry, the report said.
