An Augusta man was shot in the leg while stopped at a red light on Central Avenue on Thursday evening.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser, two Village Deli employees were going home from their shift around 11 p.m. when a masked man with a gun walked to the driver’s window at the intersection of Central Avenue and Troupe Street and told him to “give it up.”

The driver, 39-year-old Chaddrick Seals, told deputies he handed over $50 and a cellphone, but the gunman wanted more. After a struggle, the gunman fired one shot into the vehicle, hitting Seals in the upper left leg.

The passenger, 26-year-old Edward Williams, ran from the vehicle and called the police.

A witness who was on the opposite side of the intersection also notified authorities and corroborated the story.

Authorities found Seals at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital emergency room, where he drove himself after the injury, police said.

If the driver was armed he

If the driver was armed he could've given the bad guy a bullet to the forehead and told him to keep the change. Hopefully this guy picks the wrong victim the next time.

Top reasons criminals shoot other people

It's the gun makers fault....
Too many violent video games....
"I was abused as a kid"....
Socioeconomic inequality....
"I have a drug problem"....

When all else fails, just BLAME GEORGE BUSH...seems to work fine for the Democrats

What animals live among us.

What more is there to say about this?

That animal disguised as a human almost certainly will come to our attention again some day, having actually killed someone or having been dispatched himself to his Creator. Hope it's the latter.

I believe he was implying that "if" the driver had a weapon, he could have saved us all some tax money.

Is fundamental.

This happened not far from where I work and in the direction I used to travel home. Luckily for this scumbag he didn't try it with me.

I would like to hear more

I would like to hear more details on this story. Was the driver's window rolled up? Was there any oncoming traffic in the intersection and if not, perhaps the driver should have floored it? If the driver rolled down his window after seeing a gun, he lost precious getaway seconds. I'm not second-guessing the victim but flight versus a fight seems like the best option.

The Hill gets hit!
Unpublished

Central Ave at Troupe, eh? Rather close to some of the nite-spots around there, such as "Sheehan's" and "Crums" and even closer to the "Five O'Clock Bistro" which is a mere hop, skip and a jump across the road. Patrons from those establishments, in various degrees of inebriation, are among those who traverse that section of road at that time on a Thursday evening. I don't imagine they expect to have a pistol thrust in their faces after a night out.

Lock and load folks!

What?

That's the Hill section. Just in case there are still people that think crime only happens when people are on the "wrong" side of town and looking for trouble.

one day

I hope that one day this thug gets his due. A hollow point bullet right between the eyes would do nicely.

central ave bandit

guess I need to dispatch my posse consisting of mr's remington, glock, ruger, smith and wesson and place a fragment in his bold buttocks.
day is coming when crime will be dealt with by the public. we are all sick of this crap( elimate the free handouts, drugs, dealers, prostitutes, and most of this crap stops. but to do so would probally be looked at as unconstitutional or racist

So about caring a gun?

Ok...so where exactly would this gun be? On the driver, tucked in a holster? In the glove compartment? Is it loaded? It better be and in the time you would be able to grab the gun and fire it....thinking about how the driver would do this and Hit the target, he, the driver could have been killed, not just injured. So go ahead with your NRA card carrying members ideas...you all are so tough when it comes to talk, but lets see what you would do when(God forbid) it happens to you. I pray that your gun isn't taken from your cold, dead hands and used in another crime!

My new way to drive

Some of those intersections are so desolate even at that time of night. I'd prefer to slow down, then keep going if I'm alone and there's not another car in sight! That corner used to have a huge evergreen tree that has been removed. There must have been another convenient hiding place.
