SC lawmaker faces DUI charge

  • Follow Crime & courts

COLUMBIA — A South Carolina state representative running for the state’s newly created 7th Congressional District seat is facing weapons and drunken driving charges.

Richland County jail records show that 39-year-old Rep. Ted Vick of Chesterfield was being held Thursday on charges of speeding, DUI and illegally carrying a pistol. Vick was given a personal recognizance bond on the DUI and speeding charges. No bond has been set on the weapons charge.

Vick’s campaign did not immediately comment on the arrest. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.

Vick is seeking a fifth term to his Chesterfield County South Carolina House seat. He also is one of five Democrats seeking the nomination in the new 7th Congressional District, which runs through the Pee Dee and along the Grand Strand.

And in other news,...........

And in other news,........... The SC Senate passed legislation that requires all candidates for the SC Governor's race to have at least one arrest for DUI, or Disorderly Conduct to be considered for the ballot. Film at 11.

Forgot to mention the passenger

This guy was a "part time pastor" preaching good ole family values. But guess what. He had a 21 Year old female USC student in the car with him when he was pulled about a half mile from his Columbia apartment.

Check with the pros!

Maybe he needs to consult Jim Bakker or Jimmy Swaggert to see how to handle the issue. Hope he cries in church this Sunday!!!

the real question

The real question is since when has the Columbia PD ever even thought about pulling cars over with legislative tags. Answer: NEVER! I wonder which of his Congressional opponents is behind this. Dirty politics at its finest!

That being said, what an idiot. Note to SC legislatures: stay out of 5 pts.

Good one soapy@5:06

I wonder how many out there (me included) that when they see a headline like that immediately wonder (or wish) that it is a person of a party that you don't like? There are scallywags in both parties so show your contempt by not voting for them.
Just think, how many times do you hear anything about the candidates of the Green Party, American Independent Party, Libertarian Party, or the Peace and Freedom Party? What, are these people so boring that they do not have scandals or high-jinxs going on? This country needs equal opportunity scandals for all parties!

Why shouldn't he have a woman

Why shouldn't he have a woman in the car. Does that mean he has no family values. Perhaps he is married?
Does anyone know or are they only making assumptions.

He's a Democrat so he should

He's a Democrat so he should not have a problem getting reelected. Democratic liberal voters have no problem voting for Democratic candidates with a history of problems.
