Couple arrested after toddlers wandering unsupervised

A couple was arrested Friday after their 2-year-old twins were seen wandering around outside unsupervised.

Heather Lynn Chancey, 28, and Thomas Lawrence Lucree, 26, were charged with two counts of deprivation of a minor after the children, one boy and one girl, were seen wandering around outside their Boykin Road home.

Officers arrived at a trailer park at the 2300 block of Boykin Road around 6:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a toddler in the roadway. They found another toddler on the porch of a residence and both were unsupervised, according to a sheriff’s report. Both were dirty and wearing only diapers.

According to the incident report, Chancey told authorities that she and Lucree had fallen asleep after she had smoked marijuana and Lucree had used meth.

The children were turned over to the Department of Family and Children’s Services.
