According to a news release, the man entered A&W One Stop, 361 S. Liberty Street, with a pistol around 9:10 p.m. and demanded money from the register.
The clerk refused the bandit’s demands several times. A part-time security guard, who is a former police officer and current public school bus driver, fired three shots at the suspect with a .38 revolver as he fled the store without any money.
Police are unsure if the guard’s bullet struck the suspect, who is described as a black man around 6-feet-tall and 165-200 pounds. The suspect was wearing a dark T-shirt, black jacket, dark ball cap, dark gloves and a yellow bandana over his face.
Authorities belive the suspect is also responsible for a previous robbery at the location on March 24 and a robbery at Huddle House on Sunday.
Police are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waynesboro Police Department at (706) 554-8029.
