4 charged with stealing cars in South Carolina to sell in Augusta

The sheriff offices in Aiken and Richmond counties have arrested four people in connection with the theft of 10 cars, authorities said.

David Malpass Jr., 23, was arrested in connection with the theft of 10 cars in S.C.

David Malpass Jr., 23, his girlfriend Crystal Grey, 29, and their friends Richard Wilkey, 31, and Michael Eller, 55, targeted older model vehicles in Jackson, Graniteville, Beech Island and Aiken and towed them across state lines to sell them to recycling centers in Augusta, according to an e-mail from Richmond County sheriff’s investigator Kendall Brown.

Malpass is awaiting extradition to Richmond County from another juristiction, and Wilkey is in custody in Aiken. Grey and Eller are in the Richmond County jail. All are being charged with several counts of theft by receiving.

Heck of a smile to have just been arrested. I guess he is thinking about the "street cred" he will have now. He gets street cred and probably won't even have to spend time in jail for it.

Grand Theft Auto is a video

Grand Theft Auto is a video game...unless it can be proven that they actually stole the car, the usual charge is Theft by Receiving. You can prove they received the vehicles, but not necessarily that they stole them.

Roadkill, DJ is smiling because he's happy to be home. He is no stranger to Aiken County Jail. His rap sheet is longer than he is tall. As far as his "street cred" goes, around here, if something is missing or vandalized, the first thing you do is check to see if DJ is in jail. If he's not in jail, the odds are that he did it.
