NORTH AUGUSTA — The manager of an Edgefield Road gas station wishes to seek charges against an employee who has been stealing lottery tickets and cash.

According to an incident report, the manager at Four Seasons Food and Fuel, 901 Edgefield Road, told authorities Wednesday that an employee, identified as Daryl Lee Meadows, 31, of North Augusta, took seven $10 scratch-off lottery tickets from the store during his shift between Monday and Tuesday.

The manager said Meadows then took $50 from the store cash box in an attempt to pay for the tickets.

Police said the manager confronted the employee, who admitted to the theft.

Five of the seven tickets were discovered in a store gas station. Another one was cashed in at Ye Ol Grocery in Clearwater. The winning amount was not listed.

The manager told authorities Meadows has already been terminated but he wants criminal charges filed as well.

The North Augusta Public Safety Office obtained warrants for breach of trust.

Jobs hard to find and yet the

Jobs hard to find and yet the dude still can't resist temptation so now he will not have to look for work for awhile.
Makes you want to keep and check your lotto numbers yourself instead of depending on clerk at store being honest.

TK3, you had BETTER check

TK3, you had BETTER check them! I saw an expose' on one of the TV newsmagazine shows about that very thing. I believe it was California where they found a large number of places that would run your ticket, say it had nothing, then throw it in the trash. Customer walks out, they get it out of the trash and cash in. The Lotto folks sent in undercover people with known winning tickets to bust them, and let the news producers do the same for the show.

7 ten dollar tickets equals

7 ten dollar tickets equals $70. So he took $50 from the cash drawer to pay for them. Not only does he need a new job but I think a remedial 2nd grade math class is in order too. Even with duct tape and WD-40 Ron said it best...... ya just can't fix stupid!

Maybe one of the tickets was a winner....Maybe he already had $20 in his pocket and only needed $50 to cover the theft.....
