An Operation Smoke Screen burglary suspect is in custody after leading investigators on a chase this morning.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Paul Evans, Dion Woods, 19, came to the law enforcement center at 401 Walton Way with his mother this morning to turn himself in but once inside the building, he changed his mind and fled.

Investigators chased the suspect until he was caught on Walker Street.

Authorities are still searching for eight suspects in the undercover operation ended on Feb. 28.

Close to 100 arrests were made as a result of the six-month operation.

Well at least that morale

Well at least that morale booster didnt end up with a fight in the restroom like some other morale boosting events that the Sheriff has sponsored.
