Barnwell man arrested on cocaine, distribution and firearms charges

A Barnwell man was arrested on drug and firearm charges after a search of residences March 28, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

Terrence Lamar Wiggins, 32, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiring to distribute cocaine, possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On the day of the arrest, law enforcement found firearms, cocaine, narcotics paraphernalia and more than $634,000. The investigation and arrest was handled through the cooperation of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Barnwell County Sheriff’s Department.

Wiggins faces a minimum term of 15 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, forfeiture of a variety of assets and a fine of up to $20 million.
