An Augusta woman reported Thursday that she paid $285 for a swing set to someone she met through the CSRA Yard Sellers Facebook group, but never received the swing set.

Angelique Desario told deputies that between March 31 and April 4, someone named Jewels Craig collected her money but “made excuses” about providing the swing set. Later, Craig told Desario she just needed money, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Who is this Jewels Craig? It

Who is this Jewels Craig? It seems like a particularly distasteful crime since it was a swing set probably intended for children from a mother.

Now Angelique will get a taste of our Judicial system first hand. It really shouldn't take more than a few hundred dollars to try to get her money back and if she is as lucky as I have been with the magistrates court, it shouldn't take more than 3-4 years to get her money back. Thannk god we live in a country of laws to protect the crooks.

Who the heck would pay the

Who the heck would pay the full price before they received the product? To someone on facebook? I hate that law enforcement has to follow up on crimes of victims who are stupid.

This is exactly why I always

This is exactly why I always use the drop off & pick up service of Shop and Drop in Martinez - for smaller items. It's safe and if you love online yard sales, (like i do) you won't have to meet folks you don't know. With bigger items, never pay before picking up.

I find it highly unlikely

I find it highly unlikely this woman who bought the swingset would lie about this matter. People don't make up such things.

I don't think you can sue the

I don't think you can sue the Chronicle for reporting a story that most likely came from police reports. The Chronicle did not say Ms. Craig was guilty, they only reported what Ms. Desario reported to the police. At any rate, someone here is wrong, I suppose the law will figure out who it is. I agree with Riverman1 and also find it hard to believe that someone would make up a story about buying a swing set.

Regardless of who said or did

Regardless of who said or did what anyone with common sense would never give someone money without a having the goods. I have used that site to sell several items face to face always getting my money in exchange for the item. I have also had people though who say they want an item then never fall through with the sale so I just mark them for future reference to not to business with them.

It's been a while since I've needed a child's swingset, but for $285 couldn't she have just went down to Walmart or Kmart and bought one cheaper?

@x3kaylltee, she is a member

@x3kaylltee, she is a member of Online Yard Sale. Her name is abbreviated. Search the last name and she will show up. Why pay before getting the item? I have had a few people never show up, but never had anyone want me to pre-pay or for I to take someones money via pre-pay. Now, I have seen people with big items say first come first serve. So maybe that was a deposit on the Swing Set. Some swing sets are in the $1,000's when they are new.

From what im understanding,

From what im understanding, the one buying the swing paid for it, but never came and got it, then wanted her money back, as stated in the rules, all sales final.
