Crews with the Georgia Department of Transportation will put up signs in memory of fallen Richmond County Deputy J.D. Paugh near the Gordon Highway ramp on Interstate 520 this week.

Cissy McNure, a GDOT spokeswoman, said the governor signed legislation last week allowing the signs, but crews did not have the opportunity to install signs until now.

Paugh was fatally shot Oct. 23 when he stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle at the location.

A ceremony is not immediately planned.
