A 2009 indictment charging Amy Cousart with four counts of cruelty to children in the second degree alleges that her inaction allowed her children to become infected with a sexually transmitted disease. Her husband, James Cousart, is charged with six counts of aggravated child molestation, nine counts of child molestation, and one count each of rape and sexual assault. James Cousart is a registered sex offender after serving a five-year prison sentence for sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl in 1991.
Amy Cousart’s attorney, David Weber, said Monday during a status conference that his office hasn’t had contact with her in “quite some time” and that the bail bondsman “has told me she has split.”
Superior Court Judge Sheryl Jolly issued a bench warrant at the request of the district attorney’s office.
