Augusta man recovering from gunshot

An Augusta man is recovering after being shot on 12th Street Thursday night.

Police said Forrest Smith, 43, who owns Smith’s Car Wash, was shot in the right forearm and abdomen in front of The Laundry Mat, 1327 12th St., around 9:30 p.m.

Smith told officers he saw the shooter fleeing toward Wrightsboro Road.
