Authorities continue investigation of toddler death

Richmond County sheriff’s investigators continue to investigate the Wednesday death of 2-year-old Daniel Stocker.

Investigators said they are working with the Department of Family and Child Services to see if the family has a history of reports with the agency.

The child’s body was discovered in a murky pool in the backyard of his home on the 3800 block of Creighton Place around 12:30 p.m.

The child’s mother, Lisa Stocker, was booked into the Richmond County Jail on Wednesday evening on charges of involuntary manslaughter and deprivation of a minor. Investigators said Stocker claimed to be asleep when the child went missing. She later discovered he was missing after a neighbor alerted her around 9 a.m. that her dogs were roaming the neighborhood.

An investigation revealed the child was seen outside the home unattended shortly after 7 a.m.

Why didn't the people who saw

Why didn't the people who saw the child outside unattended report it to someone or try to see if they could help the child? Have we as a society lost all of our consciousness? If I saw any underage child alone, I would call 911 and stay near the child until someone got there to assist. This is such a sad story.

I believe previous reports

I believe previous reports stated that the people who saw the child outside were children themselves.

Still-A-Mazed If you can tour

If you can tour Creighton Place and Nicoll Dr. (the connecting street)you will quickly see there are some serious social issues at play in this very small part of an overall good community.

(This may be cross-posted. I haven't decided yet).

Maybe I should not be here. I am compounding the problem and I'm not sure that my words will be in any way adequate here. But here it is.

Some of you have expressed concern for the well-being of the other two children. They are cared for. They are loved. The details are none of your business.

They also have internet access. And they will wonder what people are saying. I can check their History, but hey, I can't unsee this stuff for them.

You profess to care for these two? Shut up. Period.

They are having a hard enough time adjusting to life without their brother, without their mother. They're good kids. They're really good kids. They can no longer attend public schools. They cannot safely "ego-surf" without finding comments in which totally uninvolved (and let's face it, frankly ignorant) people wishing a horrible death for their mother.

Whatever the circumstances (which, again, you are frankly ignorant of) the boys absolutely do not deserve this sort of attention. They are at that vulnerable age in which they're trying to figure out who they are at the most basic levels.

I pray every day that they know they are not just Daniel's brothers or Lisa's children. They deserve better. You can help ensure they get it.
