Authorities identify Augusta man who was stabbed to death

Homicide is ninth of 2012

Editor's note: Because of incorrect information given to The Augusta Chronicle, the age of Tyasia Phillips was incorrect in this story. In court March 30, her father said she was 4. This story has been changed to reflect this.

A man found stabbed to death in his home Monday has been identified.

Investigators were called to the 2800 block of Fleming Drive, off Lumpkin Road, around 2 p.m. after the body of Anthony G. Olivet, 43, was discovered in his apartment, according to an e-mail from Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser.

Dresser said no other information will be released now because the investigation is in its early stages.

Olivet is the second homicide in Richmond County this month. On Saturday, Tyasia Phillips, 4, was taken off life support after she was abused by her father March 11, police said.

Charges against Willie Clifford Jones, 22, will be upgraded to murder after an autopsy, the sheriff’s office has said.

The deaths are the eighth and ninth homicides this year in the county.
