A federal indictment unsealed Thursday names four men as suspects in five local robberies, plus an armored car holdup in Atlanta.
A news release from U.S. Attorney Edward Tarver names Andrew Cornelius Walker, 32, of Augusta, Devon Mitchell Saxton, 26, of Augusta, Oscar M. Bwanali, 26, of Atlanta, Joey Leon Greene Jr., 28, of Charlotte, N.C., as the robbers. Walker, Saxton and Bwanali also are charged with brandishing firearms during the robberies. All four were arrested Wednesday.
An indictment lists the locations of the robberies as: Chili’s restaurant at 273 Robert C. Daniel Parkway on Aug. 1, 2009; Check Exchange at 3215 Wrightsboro Road on Sept. 3, 2009; Columbia Check Cashing at 5226 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, on Dec.9, 2009; Ruby Tuesdays restaurant at 499 Bobby Jones Expressway, on Feb. 1, 2010; Garda Cash Logistics armored car in Atlanta on Sept. 14, 2010; and a Loomis armored car in Columbia County on Aug. 9, 2011.
“When individuals commit outrageous acts that put the safety of others at risk, they must be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows.” Tarver said in a prepared statement.
