A body found in Williston, S.C., is most likely that of a man who has been missing since Feb. 24, an investigator said Monday.

Daris Brown, 23, left a group of friends around 2:30 or 3 a.m. to go to Pamela Priester’s house, but never arrived. Priester, 33, was arrested Saturday in connection with the case for providing misleading information, Williston Police Investigator Rodney Pruitt said.

On Monday morning, a body was found floating in one of the town’s water treatment plant pools. It appeared to have the right amount of decomposition for someone who had been submerged for more than a week, Pruitt said. The body was also dressed exactly how Brown had been described as being dressed when he disappeared, and Brown’s identification was found on the body.

Pruitt said police will try to secure the identification of the body through dental records and finger prints.

The body is being sent to Newberry, S.C., for an autopsy early Tuesday, Pruitt said.
