Police are looking for Edward Albert Brown III, 19.

Edward Albert Brown III, 19, of the 2200 block of Bridgetown Road in Augusta, is wanted by authorities for questioning.

The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. at a Petersburg Square apartment.

Justin Anthony Stephens, 19, of Grovetown, and an unidentified accomplice were dressed in black and wearing bandanas over their faces when they knocked on an apartment door and forced their way inside, according to authorities.

The renter’s 15-year-old son shot Stephens twice with a .22-caliber rifle.

Stephens, who was pronounced dead at the scene, died of a gunshot to his back, said Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins.

The 15-year-old will not be charged because his actions are considered justifiable homicide, according to sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Stephens’ accomplice ran away.

Must have been a "visitor" at 401 Walton Way before. All one has to do is look at the perfect picture. Hope they find him soon so they can question him.- Innocent? Release immediately. Guilty? Throw the book at him - hard enough where he will stay a long time!

Hey Austin or AC, wrdw had an interview on their site with CC investigators and it said this:

EVANS, Ga. -- It's been a busy year for Columbia County investigators so far with two deadly shootings in one week.
"We certainly hope things settle down soon," said Columbia County Sheriff's Cpt. Steve Morris.

In February, they were called to two deadly shootings and a fatal beating.

"It's certainly a disturbing trend when you average two or three homicides a year, and we're at No. 3 three, first of March -- that's a troubling trend," Morris said.
In the last week, two men were killed, investigators say, as a crime was happening.

"It appears right now two suspects were fatally shot invading someone's home," Morris explained.
Then there was Wednesday's incident where one of the suspects ended up dead after a 15-year-old defended his family from a home invasion.

First, Anyone know about a fatal beating in February or can give the link or where to find the info?

And, Does anyone know of an article with an update on the details of the Blanchard Rd Shoot out as far as charges? Like if Smith was the only one invading the guys home or what about the person he was supposedly with?

I believe the fatal beating

I believe the fatal beating refers to the story of a woman who was arrested after her older male roommate was found dead. http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/crime-courts/2012-02-28/martinez-slayi...

Thank you Mr. Threlkeld!! I think you may be right since they didn't mention that killing in their numbers. I was relating that killing to the box cutter but the COD was blunt force trauma. The "fatal beating" sounded different, didn't remember that type of headline. lol Thanks again!!! =)
