An Aiken County man was arrested Thursday in connection with an underground moonshine operation, authorities said.

Boyce Dewayne Fields, 42, of Trenton, was charged with manufacturing illegal liquors after investigators found a "fully operational moonshine still," that was capable of making around 200 gallons of the illegal liquor at a time in his home, according to an email from Capt. Troy Elwell. SPECIAL

Troy Elwell.

They also discovered seven 55 gallon drums of mash which was being prepared for making moonshine, and several gallons of finished illegal moonshine.

Elwell said the raid by narcotics and vice investigators was a result of community tips and surveillance.

Gabhanjacisa, can you read

Gabhanjacisa, can you read this?

But, seriously, I believe whiskey making should be legal and don't give me that about you can get a permit for so much and all that. Making whiskey is a way to save the excess corn you grow. I mean people have gone to war over their right to make whiskey. This is just another way to tax people. Don't y'all watch the History Channel about Moonshiners? Tickle and Popcorn make good liquor.
