Jacqueline Michelle Hawthorne was held in the Richmond County jail on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, second-degree criminal damage to property and burglary. Her bond was set at $7,900, according to the jail Web site.
Richmond County sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment at Richmond Summitt, on Broad Street in downtown Augusta, at 8:40 p.m. Monday for a domestic violence call. When deputies arrived, they found Timothy Wigfall, 51, with stab wounds to the head and hand. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with a broken wrist and cut on the head from being beaten with a cane, along with the stab wounds.
Investigators said Hawthorne had moved out of the apartment in December but had returned to gather her belongings. When she found Wigfall had tossed her belongings, she attacked him with a cane and a large kitchen knife, police said.
