Attorney Harry James will announce Thursday that he plans to run for probate judge.
James, a practicing attorney since 1977 and solicitor of Augusta’s Magistrate Court, is seeking the seat currently held by Probate Judge Isaac Jolles. Jolles announced at the beginning of this year that he plans to retire from the position he’s held since 1998.
James opened a general practice in Augusta in 1981 that includes domestic relations, child custody, criminal cases and real estate. He estimated Wednesday that about 50 percent of his cases involve probate court.
The announcement will be made at 12:30 p.m. Thursday outside his office at 407 6th Street.
