Greene Street beating victim still in critical condition

Police ask public's help in identifying attacker

A 32-year-old remains in critical condition after he was discovered with head wounds outside a Greene Street grocery Wednesday afternoon.

Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser said a large crowd was gathered around Jermaine Desmond Little when deputies arrived around 4 p.m. The bystanders said they did not see what happened that led to Little lying unconscious on the sidewalk by Paul’s IGA at the corner of Greene Street and East Boundary.

Little was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Because of extreme swelling it was unclear what had wounded him in the back of the head, police said.

Investigators have since ruled out a gunshot wound.

Little has a history of charges in Richmond County going back to 1997. They include burglary, shoplifting, escape, financial card transaction fraud, possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080.
