A T.W. Josey High School student was arrested on campus Tuesday after an altercation with a school safety officer.

De’Vante Demario Blount, 17, was charged with possessing weapons on school property, simple assault and disruption of public school.

According to an incident report, Officer Derek McClendon told Blount to leave the cafeteria after he made a disrespectful comment to a female student.

When Blount refused and started using profanity, McClendon handcuffed the student and escorted him to a patrol car to place him under arrest for disrupting a public school.

Blount continued using profane language, including telling the officer he would “kill (McClendon) once he’s released from jail,” according to the report.

McCLendon drove Blount to the front office and found a 3-inch black knife in the student’s back pocket during a pat down.

Blount was suspended pending a tribunal hearing, according to the report.
