A man was banned from a North Leg Road store after he was caught with 10 quarts of motor oil in his pants.

An employee at Fred’s, located at 1511 North Leg Road, spotted Dominique Grady Edwads attempting to steal the oil shortly after noon Tuesday, according to an incident report. Edwards, 25, returned the oil to the employee after he was confronted.

The store did not prosecute because the suspect was cooperative. He was banned from the business.

A 25-year-old with the suspect was arrested after officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant. Demetrius Roger Latimore was charged with interfering with a sheriff’s deputy after he tried to flee from the arresting officer.

What really gets me is when

What really gets me is when businesses don't prosecute shoplifters.I saw it many times when i was working. Criminals know they won't be charged, so they steal over and over.

happychimer, sad to say, it

happychimer, sad to say, it doesn't pay businesses to prosecute shoplifters of small amounts. They have to pay the employees to show up for court, then make sure their shift is covered at work while in court. But I do agree, they know they aren't going to get charged so it does encourage them to keep doing over and over.

Someone just stole my truck with all the equipment on it last night. IF they use the ladders instead of selling them I hope they fall off and break something. Sorry .......
