A 25-year-old man is in the Richmond County Jail after authorities said he impersonated a police officer and threatened to shoot guests at a hotel Thursday evening.

According to Sgt. Dan Carrier, Michael Lynce Jr., entered Candlewood Suites, 1080 Claussen Road, around 9 p.m. claiming to be an undercover police officer. Lynce demanded a hotel room, but when the clerk denied his demand, Lynce threatened to shoot everyone.

The clerk told officers the man held his hand under his jacket showing a bulge. Lynce then threatened to blow up the hotel if he didn’t get what he wanted.

After the suspect robbed a guest of some change, another guest in the lobby tackled Lynce and held him until deputies arrived.

Lynce was charged with robbery by intimidation, terroristic threats and acts and impersonating an officer.
