Chief Patrick Clayton said Robert Corey Williams Sr., 36, flagged down the driver on Deans Bridge Road around 4:30 pm and asked her to pull into the Dollar General parking lot.
Williams demanded the driver let his child off the bus, but the driver refused because of safety protocol.
Clayton said Williams became irate, punched out the bus window and tried to pull the driver out of the bus.
The driver then called School Safety for assistance and returned to Glenn Hills Elementary.
Clayton said the driver suffered scratches on her upper chest from the attack.
Williams is wanted for terroristic threats and acts, criminal interference with government property and battery of a school official.
