South Augusta Dollar General store robbed at gunpoint

  • Follow Crime & courts

An armed robber got away with cash from the Dollar General on Sunday evening, police said.

A man dressed in black entered the store at 2549 Deans Bridge Road around 7 p.m., with a handgun and demanded money, Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Robbie Silas said.

The cashier handed him cash, and the robber ran away in an unknown direction. No one was hurt and no shots were fired.

This may or may not be

This may or may not be connected. But I was speaking with a Family Dollar Mgr. Saturday Night, she indicated she had been warned that the guy that was robbing Dollar Generals and Family Dollar stores a while back was released from jail / prison earlier in the week. If the memory is correct the Baby blanket bandit that robbed the Dollar General on Browns Rd. back on Sept 27 2010 was not caught. Or, at the least I don't remember seeing a report about an arrest in the AC.

Exmedic, he was

Exmedic, he was caught.

Proper descriptions should be fully listed especially when the chronicle has access to more than what they list on here.

They are known to have no

They are known to have no security and low amounts of staff. If you look at the front of their stores, the windows are blocked and it's hard to see inside.

Robbers are lazy, they go where it's the easiest.
