Three arrested on drug charges in N. Augusta

Three people are in the Aiken County Detention Center in connection with selling prescription drugs in North Augusta, police said.

The public safety’s narcotics division worked with an undercover informant to arrest John Andrew Finch, 24, Julie Isaac DeForde, 35, and Mark Steven Reed, 53, all of Windsor, S.C., according to Lt. Tim Thornton.

Detectives performed a controlled buy, using the informant. After the purchase was made, the three were arrested without incident. Thornton estimated the street value of the drugs at $1,000.

All three were charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance within proximity of a park. Reed faces an additional charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, Thornton said.
