Augusta Judicial Circuit Chief Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet has been selected to replace a Georgia Supreme Court justice to decide on a appeal.

Overstreet has been designated to serve in place of Justice David E. Nahmias in the appeal of Adriaan Tate v. Tony Howerton, Warden. The Supreme Court of Georgia will hear arguments in the case on Monday during a 10 a.m. session.

The case involves a Floyd County woman who pleaded guilty to burning down her former boyfriend’s home. She is appealing a lower court’s ruling against her.

In addition to hearing arguments, Chief Judge Overstreet will participate in the Court’s decision.

Chief Judge Overstreet, 66, was appointed to the Augusta Superior Court in 1991.
