About $1,700 in gold jewelry and a gun were reportedly stolen from an Augusta home Monday.

Paulette Stoney, 63, of the 2700 block of Marschalk Road, said a burglar broke into her house by busting in the back door between 1:45 and 3:15 p.m., according to Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report.

Stoney said the suspect took four 14-karat gold rings, five 14-karat gold chains, and an unknown number of 14-karat gold bracelets, as well as her black .38-caliber revolver.

The report says the deputies noted her room was ransacked.

Expect more of this kind of

Expect more of this kind of thing, crime is completely out of control. If you have valuables such as this, invest in a good safe and bolt it to the floor. It isn't a guarantee that they won't still be successful, but it may slow them down or frustrate them enough that they'll leave.
