Garrett Delmar Howard III

At 1:19 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received a call to 15th and Carver streets for a suspicious person with a gun.

Cpl. Chad Cheek saw Garrett Delmar Howard III, of the 1700 block of Luckey Street, with a gun in his hand. When Cheek turned on his siren, Howard fired two shots at Cheek, hitting his car both times, Sgt. Daniel C. Carrier Jr. said.

Cheek then chased Howard but didn’t catch him. During the chase, Howard fired his gun three more times.

Cherry Tree Crossing, wow,

Cherry Tree Crossing, wow, really? They need a sub-station inside this place armed by the SWAT team. They also need to change the name to Crime Tree Crossing.

There was a substation

There was a substation inside, but I believe some of their upstanding residents damaged it several years ago after the Elmore incident.

A sub-station? Stay the heck

A sub-station? Stay the heck away from that place before you get killed. We don't pay them enough money for this.

Yea, it will work. Come down

Yea, it will work. Come down on them like a ton of brick and run all of the cockroaches out of there. Instead of collecting taxes with speeding tickets, put officers in that community 24/7 until the cockroaches move to another neighborhood. When they move, move the officers with them until you corral enough of them in the roach motels to curb their activity. This is something we cannot afford to compromise on.

Luckily, holding a gun

Luckily, holding a gun sideways effects accuracy. Should have sent in a few "operators" with MP5s and Corbons in the place. These people fire at cops in crowded areas because the cops cant fire back. Bayonets, anyone?

If people are shooting at

If people are shooting at officers now, I don't think they will be safe doing community policing. At least not in any of the areas like Cherry Tree. I doubt this will be the last incident like this. Hope that the justice system will close the revolving doors soon is all I can say.

Mug shot. My guess is that he

Mug shot. My guess is that he is another graduate of the Richmond County Judicial Revolving Door Academy and Probation Kickback Collection Agency. Hope the deputies have an unspoken agreement to put him down when they find him. He is armed and dangerous and he is certainly not worth the life of one of our police officers.

Lucky our guys are conscious

Lucky our guys are conscious of their backstop. This is why I can't be a policeman. Shoot at me? Spray and pray, and not with that silly Glock. Im going to the trunk for a AR15. These folks need a ready tactical team with the tools to handle it. A well equipped squad on stand by trained in urban combat (a few Fallujah vets would suffice) would make this a different story. These thugs with their $150 Hi-point pop and drops need to be confronted with some urban surgeons. I take this personal. If Ronnie Strength will provide the squad, I will donate a weapon out of my personal collection suited for the purpose. Lets nip this in the bud.

Some will get arrested and jailed, the remainder will either behave like civilized people or get arrested too; or get shot like rabid dogs.

I serious. I will provide one

I serious. I will provide one weapon. If I don't own it already, I will raise the funds for it. My wife bakes a heck of a cake, and I will wash cars, mow grass, etc... these guys are fighting against a different type of criminal and need to be equipped. You need vests? You need ammo? If the commission doesnt want to fund these items I will. Email me. Atctaylorb@yahoo.com. Anyone wanting to help, email me too. This is gone too far. I am sick of it.

I am in the business of

I am in the business of removing the excuses of why it cannot be done. I am willing to donate a weapon from my collection, however, the weapons I own may not be satisfactory to the standards of RCSO, because they are civilian in nature and Russian in origin. I have no access to the Class 3 firearms that may be necessary to defend from such urban tactical situations. I am willing to provide the funds for such hardware through a network of donors and volunteers. I do not want another funeral procession for our hard working men. If this is the least I can do, then so be it. I was told once by a tactical instructor that if you show up to a fair gunfight, you are not prepared. These guys out there are a straw purchase away from having the RCSO outgunned. Just youtube this phrase... " Bank of America robbery." These thugs have access to some serious stuff... If I was a policeman trying to outgun a guy with a 90 round drum under his sear pin filed AK47 and all I had was a Glock service pistol, I would hope I had something a wee bit more substantial in the trunk of my patrol car. This isnt a game. This is about leveling the playing field for our boys in blue. This is the second time in two weeks our boys have been shot at. We need to put the correct tools in their hands to handle this.

Unfortunatly these people

Unfortunatly these people that livethere have rights. i personally think if you live off of the tax payers you should lose their rights to privacy and bare arms. They have proven over and over that they will shoot illigally. the tax payers own the place so we should be able to search the homes for contraband weapons. I've heard that there are good people that live there. Well maybe those good people can get a job like everyone else. there should be a time limit on how long you can use tax payers money to live off of. I livedon a Navy base and had to register my weapons, what makes the people so special?

Dragon skin armor is just as

Dragon skin armor is just as important as weapons maybe more so than loaning the cops new guns, they have plenty of good guns just not enough protection to get in close to clean up the mess our public schools created. We should also think of armoring their cars with super light polymer ceramics, too. We have the recipe and it's made of readily available materials. We can literally give the materials to a very nice lady who works at thermal ceramics and have them fire up a bunch of disc’s about 2 inches round and sell them like hotcakes on the world market. "Ceramic fibers composed of silicon, boron, carbon, and nitrogen exhibit significantly increased tensile strength up to very high temperatures (1500°C or 2732°F) compared to what is commercially available. Different synthetic routes have been developed which allow the formation of boron-containing polysilazanes. The polymer-to-ceramic conversion of these polyborosilazanes provides single-phase amorphous silicoboron carbonitrides which show outstanding stability in terms of crystallization and thermal degradation."

These repeat violent

These repeat violent offenders need to be behind bars. If our judges will not do the job then our legislatures need to do so and take the control away from the judges. We do not needs these violent offenders walking amongst us.

As for Cherry Tree, a LOT needs to be done there to include but not limited to a secured entrance only allowing access for residents, routing housing inspections, drug tests for those living at the expense of the taxpayers, etc.

The Sheriff's Office needs more funding. These deputies are underpaid, understaffed, underfunded, outmanned and in many cases out gunned. Enough is enough, we must support our deputies in this county just as many did when Deputy Paugh was killed...we don't need to wait until another deputy is killed to show them that we support them and want them to have the training, equipment and salaries needed to get the job done appropriately. You can visit "Support The RCSO" on Facebook which is not affiliated directly with the RCSO but is for those who wish to show them support.

It is sad that our government spends more on housing nonproductive non taxpaying members of our local society than they do on properly funding our public safety.

I'd say we have deep problems

I'd say we have deep problems in the community when we have people shooting at police. But it is a ghetto after all. It sounds like y'all donating guns for an assault want to handle them like the residents of the original ghettos were handled? Anyone know what I mean? Wall them in, starve them and lob artillery shells into the area before sending in tanks and ground troops.

I don't know, but I think that could be a little dangerous. Think we better look for other solutions?

We could always get volunteers to ride around on golf carts & shake hands...talk nicely & ask them to put down that gun they are holding in our face....want to go first??..:)(You made me post that heheh)
