Lawn equipment and hand tools worth $3,775 were stolen Wednesday from a shed behind a North Augusta house, police said.

William Fuehrer, of the 100 block of Mossy Oak Circle, told police someone removed fence slats to access his backyard and break the lock on his shed, according to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report. The missing tools include a $900 air compressor, $800 generator and two Weed Eaters, two chain saws and a hedge trimmer, each valued between $150 and $350.

The tools went missing between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

So, this was not just a

So, this was not just a random act. Someone knew those tools were there, or else the perp would not have went to all that trouble. Plus someone had to help to make off with all those tools. An $800 generator is not a small piece of equipment, certainly a $900 air compressor would require a lot of heavy lifting and maneuvering to get out, and two chain saws are not easily transported items. So someone had plenty of time and had to have help in loading these items, as these were not items that one could just walk away with. So now the question is who would have done such a thing?

Short of being allowed bobby

Short of being allowed bobby traps, having a good' fence, dog or motion sensing floodlight that warns you, and a shotgun under the bed is the best defense available against thieves. Be assured that the cops will stop by sometime later to take a report and hassle YOU for defending your property.
