Thieves stole four flat-screen televisions and other electronics from an Augusta home Friday, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report.

About noon, deputies found a back door that had been kicked in in the 2600 block of Claymont Road. After an officer saw a cable box on the floor, he asked dispatch to contact the owner of the home.

The homeowner told deputies the burglars had taken a Blu-ray player, an iPod, a Nintendo Wii and a PlayStation, as well as the TVs.

She said she had a working alarm on the house but it was not set.

Why would anyone have an alarm and not set it? Sounds fishy.

It's not like an alarm is a real deterrent. The time it takes the alarm company to call law enforcement and them to respond all of your stuff is gone.

Even if the alarm was set and went off when someone kicked the door in or however they got inside they would have ran. Because I know my alarm is very loud. Its the holidays people if you have alarms you need to keep them set when you are home and expecially when you're not home...

These folks had too much in assets and are evil! They should have all of their possessions redistributed amoung the poor. How dare they presume to think they deserve what they have earned when there are so many that don't have flat screen tvs.

Either this thief had the luck of the draw on his side, or he had inside information. Isn't it strange that one never hears of a home that is broken into and nothing is taken.
