A judge refused to grant bond during a Friday hearing for a Grovetown man accused of sexually assaulting two teens.

Superior Court Judge William M. Fleming Jr. refused the request by Landon “Dock” Norman, 38, of Long Creek Falls, at the hearing in the Evans courthouse.

“I think he poses a threat to the community,” Fleming said.

In connection to a June incident in which Norman is accused of touching a 14-year-old girl, he’s charged with aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and five counts of electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor.

Norman was arrested Oct. 24 for inappropriately touching the girl at Riverside Park, where her brother and Norman’s son played baseball together. Assistant District Attorney Pittman Morris said Norman lured the girl to a secluded area and talked her into his car, where he molested her.

“He told the victim he would kill her if she (cried out) to anyone,” Morris said, adding that Norman would likely threaten or intimidate the victims or witnesses in the case if he was released on bond.

Norman also added the teen as a friend on Facebook and made inappropriate comments and sent nude photos to her e-mail address, according to charges.

Norman also is charged with aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sexual assault and rape in connection to a then 16-year-old girl’s claims two years ago that he molested her for four months.

At the time, she recanted her story because “she was scared and could not deal with it,” Morris said. When Norman was recently charged, the case was reopened and the older victim then cooperated with authorities and gave them details of the abuse.

Norman is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center.
