A 23-year-old Augusta woman is being charged with felony hit-and-run after authorities said she ran over a friend.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Randy Prickett, Rebecca Ishee was following Russell Boyles on Skinner Mill Road around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when Boyles crossed the center line with his motorcycle and crashed into an oncoming car.

The crash threw the motorcycle into a sound barrier wall on the right shoulder of the road. Boyles, also 24, was thrown off the motorcycle.

Then Ishee drove over Boyles’ body in the roadway, Prickett said.

Ishee did not stop after the incident, but later returned to the scene. She told deputies she ran over debris from a crash with her vehicle, but she did not know it was Boyles who had crashed.

Autopsy toxicology tests are still pending on Boyles.
