An air-conditioning unit was stolen from a church this weekend, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Albert Simms, 50, called deputies when he came by the Israel Light Baptist Church at 2212 Grand Blvd., at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, an incident report says.

Simms stated that when he left the church at 6 p.m. Friday, the air conditioner was intact, but it was missing when he arrived Sunday morning.

The unit was surrounded by a fence and is valued at $2,000.
