Columbia County sheriff's deputies are looking for registered sex offender George Rexford Donovan Jr., 27, for violating the Sex Offender Law.

George Rexford Donovan Jr., 27, is wanted for violating the sex offender law, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

In 1997, Donovan was convicted of indecency with child sexual contact in Kerr County, Texas. He also is on probation, Morris said.

In October, he was living in a room at the Econo Lodge on Belair Frontage Road, but was told he had 72 hours to relocate because it also violated the Sex Offender Law.

Donovan was last known to be living in Wildwood Park on Dogwood Lane at site 49. He has disappeared. Morris said Donovan might have returned to Texas.

Anyone with information about Donovan’s whereabouts should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.

Sounds like another "fail"

Sounds like another "fail" for the sex offender's database. If he was 13 when it happened- he should not have been put on there unless he did something so horrible. At that age he could have been experimenting like many people that age do and now has to suffer the embarassment for the rest of his life. He was too young at that time to have to endure this for the rest of his life. With that said... with the limited places someone on that list can life- how is he ever going to be able to work and afford a place to live and be compliant at the same time? Not saying get rid of the list, but some provisions should be made to help these people live and work so they can re-pay society and get the mental help they may require. Having to live at one of the seedy Gordon Hwy motels isn't the answer.
