Copper wiring stolen from Augusta home

A crawl space in an Augusta home was gutted of its copper tubing and electrical wiring, police said.

According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report, Andrew Thomas McCoy, of the 3400 block of Heather Drive, visited his home in the 1000 block of D’Antignac Street to find his lock pried off the door last month. He said it had happened between 9 a.m. Oct. 10 and noon Oct. 11.

Besides the crawl space, the burglar also took apart the air conditioner and stole the copper wire out of it.

The total damage was $3,501.
