A 71-year-old man’s home was burglarized Monday morning, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report.

Augusta resident Robert Lee Shannon came home at 11:15 a.m. to find the front door of his house in the 200 block of West Vineland Road kicked in.

The report says the burglar got away with an iPad, an iBook, a laptop cooling device, a Canon digital camera, a pressure washer, $200 in coins and 16 pieces of gold-toned jewelry.

Vineland area has been this

Vineland area has been this way for awhile. I love on east vineland and in the past three years my car has been broken into twice. First time our childrens car seats were stolen. Second time our childrens mini tv's that go on the back of a seat were stolen. Our house has been broken into one time but the culprit was identified by a neighbor and the police apprehended him. Now stuff that is left in the garage, for some reason people think its a free for all. We have had many blowers, lawnmowers, gas, bicycles, skil saws, etc. stolen from inside our garage which is partially our fault for leaving it out there. I'm pretty sure most of the issue is the low income housing that is pretty close to our neighborhood. Most of them dont have jobs so they probably cruise the neighborhood during the day and snatch and grab what ever they can trade into their drug dealers or pawn for money for their drug habits. Maybe the one person who stole the car seats gave them to their babies momma. I dont know but I want to put up a chain link fence with barb wire and have an officer we pay stand and only allow people in our neighborhood who belong.
