A 22-year-old woman called authorities after burglars pulled a gun on her in her Taylor Street home Monday.

The woman told deputies she heard noise in her living room on the 100 block of East Taylor Street around 6:15 a.m. and found an unknown man standing in the room while another attempted to climb in through a window where they had removed her air conditioner.

According to an incident report, the man already inside the home pulled out a handgun and directed the victim to return to her bedroom.

After a few minutes the woman observed the men running through a field across the street.

Nothing was taken from the residence.

Something certainly was taken

Something certainly was taken from the residence: that woman's hope that she would have a sense of safety and security in her own home.

There are many on here who'd

There are many on here who'd like everyone to believe that this rise in home invasions & crime is not a symptom of our bad economy. I say it is. And I also say it will get worse.

If I'd heard an unknown noise in my living room, I would have entered it with a gun in my hand. And you good folks should do the same.

Protect yourselves. Please!

Chillen...the economy may have a little to do with it, but I think the majority of criminals take from others because of drugs or just plain selfishness.

I say they believe themselves

I say they believe themselves to be privileged and only taking what is rightfully theirs. You know, it is okay for the have-nots to take from the haves'.

When it's one female against

When it's one female against two men, the person going out in a body bag would be HER.

Chillen, I hear noises in my house all the time. I have 3 dogs. Stuff sometimes falls. Sometimes my husband knocks things over. That's called N-O-R-M-A-L.

I have a mental picture of Chillen running from room to room in his house, waving a gun, yelling, "Halt! Or I'll shoot!" Do you have a gun in every room? Or if you hear a noise, do you make a mad dash for your bedroom?

Taking that attitude is a good way for innocent people to get shot. I nearly shot my first husband that way.

When it comes right down to it, very few people are able to shoot an intruder. They freeze. Most people find it hard to kill another person.

corgimom: Get yourself

corgimom: Get yourself trained in how to use a gun and you will NOT freeze. You will feel confident. You will react as you are supposed to react and you will save your life or the life of a loved one. Your house is your domain. You and your family have a right to feel safe in your home and it is your responsibility to make sure that they are protected and safe. Thank goodness that most people find it hard to kill another person---but those are not the kind of people that are entering homes in the middle of the night! And by the way, if some strange person enters your home, you don't even give them time to "Halt, Or I'll shoot!"---You just shoot---That person had no business being in your home in the first place. Get trained. Stay safe. Keep your doors and windows locked, day and night. This is not the age of "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best"!

I'm sorry but I have never

I'm sorry but I have never owned a gun and I never will. I keep my doors and windows locked and I have a big dog who knows the score.
My wife hates guns as much as I do. If someone breaks into my house while I'm there either they can have anything they want or the dog will rip them into ity bity pieces of thug. You see he's an animal and acts on insticnt. My wife and I on the other hand refuse to live our lives in fear of becoming victims. We know it's just the luck of the draw but no one will ever be able to make us afraid of living our lives just as we please.
Plus a state of the art security system doesn't hurt.

Unpublished

Shrimp:

A gun is cheaper than a dog, doesn't poop and doesn't need to be fed. It fits in a drawer and doesn't die when it's 10 years old.

Check it out.
