A 46-year-old man is in critical condition after he was beaten Monday night with what resembled a metal fence post.

According to Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Carrier, Cecil Bragg was involved in an argument about 10:30 p.m. with two brothers, Green and Daniel Christopher Sheffield, over stolen property on Horseshoe Road when the argument turned physical.

Carrier said the brothers hit Bragg several times in the head with the metal object.

Although authorities aren’t sure of the circumstances of the argument, according to Carrier, the suspects say their father stole a drill belonging to one of them and sold it to Bragg without permission.

Bragg was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Daniel Sheffield, 38, is being held at the Richmond County Jail on charges of aggravated battery. Authorities are still searching for Green Sheffield, 36, who also faces an aggravated battery charge.

"Carrier said the brothers struck Sheffield several times in the head with the metal object."

Didn't they strike Bragg?

So they beat the tar out of
Unpublished

So they beat the tar out of Bragg for buying the drill and presumably refusing to return it.

That leaves the big question unanswered; what'd they do to their daddy who done stole the drill to begin with and then done sold it?

If he has any sense, he'll have moved to another trailer park.

All that over a drill? I

All that over a drill? I don't find it all that amusing that someone has been seriously injured because these guys think they can take the law in thier own hands. It all will cost the taxpayers in the end. And whats with the trailer park thing?

I don't believe that

I don't believe that Horseshoe Road is only trailers (if there are any, I didn't notice). There are some very nice homes on Horseshoe Road.

They took out their anger on

They took out their anger on the wrong person, they should have called the cops to good old dad. Once again, people react without thinking, hope Mr. Bragg will be ok.

Yes, there are a few trailers

Yes, there are a few trailers out thataway but I never saw a trailer park. It's a very beautiful area and I think it will become to Augusta what Potomac is to Montgomery County, Maryland and McLean is to Virginia. I would think that the culprit's neighbors are scandalized as I am sure many of the rest of us are and pray Mr. Bragg will recover. Fence post? I don't suppose these brothers were riding around drunk as skunks knocking over mailboxes with their extra fence posts? I'm curious about the vehicle these men drive. Trust they will STAY in jail for a long, long time and end up with a big ugly cell mate who calls them darlin'.

For the ten-thousandth

For the ten-thousandth time...in GA, there is no charge of "attempted murder"...GA's "attempted murder" statute is aggravated assault with intent to murder and/or aggravated battery. So, for all practical purposes, they were charged with "attempted murder."
